Send a proposal
Email the proposal or copy its link, and see what your client sees.
Who can do this: Anyone who can open the project. Field/shop workers can open only the projects they are scheduled for in the calendar.
Once a proposal is finalized, your client can view it online. You send them a link. They don't need a password or a BidUnity account to open it.
You can send only a finalized proposal. To finalize one, see Review the summary and finalize.
Email the proposal
- Open the finalized proposal.
- Click View & send, then Email online proposal.
- Your email app opens a new message with the subject "[proposal name] glazing proposal" and a link to the online proposal.
- Add your client's email address, change the message if you like, and send it.
Copy the link
- Open the finalized proposal.
- Click View & send, then Copy link to online proposal.
- Paste the link into an email or message to your client.
See what your client sees
- Open the finalized proposal.
- Click View & send, then View online proposal. The online proposal opens in a new tab.
Mark it as sent
Sending the link doesn't change the proposal's status. To record that this is the offer you sent the client, mark it as Proposed Offer. See Change a proposal's status.
What your client sees
The online proposal opens with your company's letterhead: your logo (or your company name if you haven't added a logo), state license number, address, website and email. Beside it, under Estimate, are the proposal number, the date it was finalized and the date it expires. Each page also shows who prepared the proposal and the work site address. Your client can click Print this page to print any page.
The online proposal has these pages:
| Page | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Summary | The proposal total, your proposal notes, and the specifications and elevations for each work type. |
| Product submission data | The proposed product specifications for each work type, with each elevation's drawing, system type, glass layers and components. |
| Terms & conditions | The proposal's terms and conditions. |
| Schedule of values | A preliminary schedule of values: the price split into line items of work. |
| Door schedule | Every door in the proposal, with its frame and leaf (the door panel itself). |
| Product files | Product files your client can download. |
| Durations | How long the priced work is expected to take, for each work type. |
You choose some of this in your company's proposal settings (see Set proposal defaults). These settings apply to every proposal you have sent, not just new ones, so if a company admin changes them, your client sees the change the next time they open the proposal:
- Detailed costs shows your client the material, labor and other line item pricing on the Summary page. Lump sum shows one total price without the breakdown.
- Schedule of values, Product files and Labor durations turn those pages on or off.
