Add indirect costs
Add expenses such as setup, equipment, travel and freight to a proposal.
Who can do this: Anyone in your company who can open the project.
Indirect costs are expenses that aren't tied to one part or elevation, such as setup, equipment rental, travel, freight and storage. This is the second of the three pricing steps. You get here by clicking Next: Indirect costs after you price the proposal.
Add an expense
- On the Indirect costs page, click Add expense.
- In Work type, choose the type of work the cost belongs to, or General project overhead for a cost that covers the whole job.
- Search the list with Search expense or vendor… and click Select next to the expense you want. BidUnity shows its price per unit, and its days per unit if it has a duration.
- Enter the Quantity. It must be more than zero.
- Optionally, add a Proposal description.
- Check the Total cost and Total duration, then click Save expense.
The expense shows in the table with its name, account, work type, vendor, quantity, total duration and total cost. The Total row adds them up. If you search the table with Search indirect costs…, the row reads Total (filtered) and adds up only the rows you see.
Change or delete an expense
- To change an expense, click the Edit expense icon on its row, make your changes and click Save expense.
- To remove one, click the Delete expense icon, then confirm. A deleted expense can't be brought back.
A row flagged Missing account, Missing work type or Missing vendor means BidUnity can no longer find the account, work type or vendor the expense points to. For a missing work type, edit the expense and choose a current one.
When you can't make changes
A Read-only expenses note appears, and you can't add, edit or delete, while:
- the proposal's prices are being recalculated, or
- the proposal is being finalized.
Once a proposal is finalized, the pricing pages take you back to the proposal.
What happens next
- Click Next: Summary & finalize to go to the last step. See Review the summary and finalize.
- Click Back: Review to return to the material and labor costs, or Cancel to go back to the proposal.
- While the proposal's prices are being recalculated, Next: Summary & finalize is greyed out, and a message beside it asks you to wait for pricing to finish.
