Catalog
Shared and company catalog items, what you can edit, and how the catalog feeds proposals.
The Catalog menu holds the vendors, parts, prices and systems that BidUnity uses to price your proposals. Everyone in your company can browse it. Company admins can add and change their company's own items.
What's in the catalog
- Vendors are the companies you buy from. Each vendor has parts, product groups and systems.
- Parts are the things you buy, such as extrusions, screws, glass and sealant. Each part has a purchase type (how you buy it) and finish prices (a list price for each finish color).
- Product groups sort a vendor's parts into groups. Your company sets one multiplier per product group, which turns the vendor's list price into your cost.
- Systems are product systems, such as a storefront or curtain wall line. A system holds product validations (tested and approved setups), and each validation holds components with their parts and labor.
The Catalog menu has these items:
| Menu item | What it opens |
|---|---|
| Systems & parts by vendor | Your vendors, the list of vendors selected for your company. |
| All systems | Vendor systems, every system from your company's vendors. |
| Seller vendor parts | The parts of the vendor your company sells as. Only company admins at companies that BidUnity has linked to their own vendor see it. |
Shared items and company items
Some catalog items are shared by BidUnity with every company. Others are custom to your company.
- You can view shared items, but you can't change them. A system created by BidUnity shows Bid Unity in the Created by column.
- Company admins can edit and delete the items that are custom to their company.
- To change a shared system, a company admin can copy it. The copy belongs to your company and you can edit it.
- To change a shared price, a company admin can set a custom list price for your company. Your price is used in place of the shared one.
The buttons that open the editing pages appear only for company admins.
How the catalog feeds proposals
When you price a proposal, BidUnity works out the parts each elevation needs from the system's components and their part uses. It then picks a vendor part and finish price for each part, applies your multipliers and margins, and adds tax. See How pricing works for the full math, and Price a proposal for the steps.
Which vendors appear in the catalog, and the multiplier for each product group, are set in Settings. See Choose vendors and set multipliers.
