Add and edit vendors and product groups

Add a vendor when a supplier you buy from isn't in the catalog yet. Add product groups to sort its parts so you can set a multiplier for each group.

The vendor, product group, part and price forms start with Visibility:

• Share with the community: the item can be shared with other companies. This is the default for new items.
• Private only to my company: only your company sees the item.

Either way, the item is custom to your company, so your company admins can edit and delete it.

Add a vendorCopy Anchor Link

1. Click Catalog, then Systems & parts by vendor. Or go to Settings and click Vendors & multipliers.
2. Click Create a new vendor.
3. Choose the Visibility.
4. Enter the Vendor name. It must be 3 to 75 characters and can't match the name of another vendor you can see, in any mix of capitals.
5. Enter a Short name of 2 to 12 characters. It is added to the front of this vendor's part names. You can't change it after you create the vendor.
6. Optionally enter the Email, Phone, Fax and Website.
7. Click Create vendor.

What happens nextCopy Anchor Link

• The vendor is added to your company's vendor list.
• BidUnity creates a product group named General for the vendor, with a multiplier of 1.
• You see "The vendor was created, next create product group multipliers for it", and the vendor's Product groups tab opens.

Edit or delete a vendorCopy Anchor Link

You can edit only vendors that are custom to your company. Shared vendors don't show the Edit vendor button.

1. Open the vendor from Catalog > Systems & parts by vendor.
2. Click Edit vendor.
3. Change the details and click Save changes.

To delete the vendor, click Delete, then Delete vendor to confirm.

Add a product groupCopy Anchor Link

You can add product groups to your own vendors and to shared vendors. A product group you add to a shared vendor is custom to your company.

1. Open the vendor and go to the Product groups tab.
2. Click Create new product group.
3. Choose the Visibility.
4. Enter the Product group name (up to 50 characters).
5. Click Create product group.

What happens nextCopy Anchor Link

• The new group starts with a multiplier of 1.
• To set its multiplier, click Set your multiplier values on the Product groups tab. See Choose vendors and set multipliers.

Edit or delete a product groupCopy Anchor Link

Product groups that are custom to your company show as links on the Product groups tab. Shared groups don't.

1. On the vendor's Product groups tab, click the product group's name.
2. Change the Product group name and click Save changes.

To delete the group, click Delete, then Delete product group to confirm.

You can't delete a product group while parts still use it. BidUnity shows Cannot delete product group and lists the parts in the group. Move those parts to another group or delete them first.
