Calendar and time

Clock in and out on the web

Clock in to a scheduled project from a browser.

Who can do this: Anyone who is scheduled on a project today.

Use Time clock to record when you start and stop work on a project. You can only clock in to a project you have a schedule event for today. If you need to be added, ask whoever runs the schedule, or add the event yourself on the calendar. Field/shop workers can add events only on projects they are already scheduled for. See Use the company calendar.

You can also clock in and out with BidUnity Mobile. See BidUnity Mobile.

Clock in

  1. Click Tools, then Time clock.
  2. Under Choose a project, pick the project you are working on. The list shows only the projects you are scheduled on today.
  3. Click Clock in.
  4. If your browser asks to use your location, allow it. While it checks, you see "Waiting for your location...".

The page now says "You are clocked in", with a link to the project.

If you see "You are not scheduled for any projects today.", you don't have an event for today. Click the calendar link in that message to add one, or ask someone to schedule you.

Clock out

  1. Click Tools, then Time clock.
  2. Click Clock out.
  3. If your browser asks to use your location, allow it.

To switch to another project, clock out first, then clock in to the new one.

Click Refresh to reload your current status, for example after you clocked in or out on your phone.

If you forget to clock out

If you are still clocked in after the day your shift started, BidUnity clocks you out automatically shortly after midnight. It picks the end time like this:

  • If you had schedule events that day, on any project, the shift ends when your last one ends.
  • If you had none, the shift ends at 5:00 PM.
  • If you clocked in after that end time, the shift ends at 11:59 PM that day.

The day and times follow the time zone the shift was recorded in.

On the timesheet, the clock out shows "[automatically clocked out]". The shift's Change history lists the change as made by "[AUTOMATED]", with a note on how the end time was picked. If the end time is wrong, ask a company admin or a user with the Timesheet Admin work role to correct it.

About your location

Time clock asks your browser for your location when you clock in and when you clock out. If you don't allow it, or it isn't available, your time is still recorded without a location.

What happens next

  • Clocking in and then out records a shift (one block of worked time on one project).
  • The shift shows on the Timesheet summary, where company admins and users with the Timesheet Admin work role review and approve it. They see whether you were Onsite, Offsite or had No location when you clocked in and out. See Review and approve timesheets.
