Start a task workflow

Start one of your company's workflows on a project.

Who can do this: Everyone who can open the project.

Start a workflow when a project reaches the point where your company's process begins, for example when you win the job. You can only start workflows your company admins have set up. See Set up task workflows.

  1. Open the project.
  2. In the project sidebar, click Tasks.
  3. Click Start task workflow.
  4. Find the workflow you want and click Start next to it.
  5. In Workflow name, keep the suggested Name or type a new one. Each workflow on a project needs its own name, so give a second run of the same workflow a different name.
  6. Click Start workflow.

If your company has no workflow templates yet, the window says "No workflow definitions found. Please create some workflow definitions first." Click Close and ask a company admin to set one up.

If you see "Cannot start workflow", none of the workflow's tasks are set to start on their own. A company admin needs to fix the workflow template first.

What happens next

  • You see "Workflow started".
  • BidUnity creates the workflow's starting tasks on the project. Each one is due after the number of business days set in its task template. Weekends and US holidays are skipped.
  • The new tasks are unassigned. They show under My tasks for everyone whose work roles match the task. See Find your tasks.
