Work in progress report
Contract value, billing and cost for every active contract, and editing key dates.
Who can do this: Everyone except Field/shop workers.
The Work in progress report lists every project with active contract terms. For each one it shows the contract value, how much you have billed, the budgeted and incurred costs, and the payments received. You can also update payments, incurred costs and key contract dates from here.
To open it, click Reports at the top of the page, then Work in progress.
Which contracts are listed
The report lists each project's contract terms, except contracts with the status Discharged (fully paid) or Excluded. If no project has active contract terms, you see No projects have active contract terms. For what each status means, see Contract and change order statuses.
Totals
The tiles at the top add up every listed contract. Typing in the filter doesn't change them. Each tile shows an amount and its percent share.
| Tile | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Total of contracts | The total value of all listed contracts. |
| Expected gross margin | Contract value minus expected costs. |
| Billed | The total billed to date, less retainage. |
| Unbilled | Contract value not billed yet. |
| Billed this period | The amount billed this period on each project's latest application for payment, counted when its billing period ends this month. |
| Expected costs | The total budgeted cost. |
| Incurred costs | The total cost spent so far. Its percent is the share of expected costs. |
| Unbilled-completed | Work done but not billed yet. Progress is estimated from the share of expected costs already incurred. |
| Backlog | Contract value for work not done yet, estimated the same way. |
Columns
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Manager | The person who created the project. |
| Project name | The project. Click it to open the project. |
| Billed through | The end date of the last billing period. Shows Never billed (click it to open the project's Billing tab), or 100% billed when the contract is fully billed. If the last period ended before this month, a reminder shows the day the next bill is due. |
| Schedule | Where the job is: the expected start date, the date it started, or the date it was completed, with how many days ago. |
| Value | The net contract amount: the original contract value plus approved change orders. |
| Billed | The total billed to date, as of the latest application for payment, less retainage (the share the customer holds back until the job is done). |
| Budgeted | The cost budget from the Price Awarded proposal plus the cost of approved change orders. |
| Incurred | The cost spent so far. |
| Payments | The payments received so far. |
An approved change order is one whose status is Accepted, Scheduled, Completed or Contract Scope.

Update payments or incurred costs
- Click the pencil next to the amount in the Payments or Incurred column.
- Type the new amount.
- Press Enter or click the check mark. BidUnity shows Payments updated or Incurred updated.
To cancel, press Esc or click the X.
Payments here are the same amount paid to date as on the project's applications for payment. When payments equal the net contract amount, the contract status changes to Discharged and it leaves this report.

- Click the pencil in the Schedule column. The Important dates window opens.
- Fill in or change the dates:
- Received contract
- Draft date
- Date to manager
- Date to counterparty

- Click Save dates. BidUnity shows Dates updated.
What happens next
- The Schedule column shows the new dates.
- When you first set Actual completion to today or an earlier date and the contract status is Offered or Accepted, the status changes to Performed. You can change the status on the project's Terms tab. See Set up contract terms.
- When payments reach the net contract amount, the contract is Discharged and leaves the report.
